Mechanical Disc Brakes
Hello,
I finally killed my rear "crappy" CODA hydraulic housing and need to buy a replacement. I have not been happy with many aspects of the CODA, but particularly bleeding/adjusting the hydraulics. Has anyone used/converted to mechanical disc brakes and do you have any recommendations? I have a Cannondale F900 that has the disc specific frame. Thanks, Mike |

Thanks, Mike Avid rules the roost in the mechanical disc market. I have them and like them and so do countless other people. Hayes mechanicals seem to be well liked too, but no direct experience here. Just bear in mind that while mechanicals seem very cost effective, they do not include a lever or cables. Hydraulic brake sets do. If I ever find an excuse to replace my trouble free Avids, I'm going to buy high end Hayes hydros. |

Thanks for the reply. I went into my favorite LBS and sure enough they
had nothing but rave reviews for Avid mechs. So I tell them to throw a set on. As per usual it is not that easy I have four hole rotors and the standard is 6 holes, so either I buy a new wheel set or they try to find a set of 4 hole Hayes rotors. Of course I could ask them to order a replacement part for the crap CODA's and live with the poor performance. Boy I wish that I had better long range vision so that I did not run into this kind of stuff. "SuperSlinky" wrote in message t... Mike Kennedy said... The CODA's are F=171mm and R=151mm. I do not think that anyone else uses
these sizes, at least I did not see any while searching the web. "Chris Phillipo" wrote in message .. . In article , says...
