Bike Stopping distances?
"Bob" wrote in message ... Looking for a chart with bike stopping distances. Perhaps there's something out there where they compared brake types, pads, tires, etc - maybe even under wet and dry conditions? Thanks, Generally speaking, maximum braking on a bicycle is limited by bicycle and rider geometry. Maximum braking is when the rear wheel just lifts so long as you have and use the front brake. I believe that any modern brake and pad will achieve this if the rider has strong enough hands. The best way to increase braking is to scoot back as far and get as low as possible. If you know where your center of gravity is in relation to the front wheel contact patch, you can calculate maximum deceleration fairly accurately. I doubt that the front wheel will skid if you are on pavement - even if it is wet. Dan |
