4 year old mown down by pavement cyclist
A FOUR-year-old girl was left scarred and covered in blood after a cyclist,
who was using the pavement illegally, ploughed into her. The youngster was left bleeding and in shock after the cyclist struck her near Temple Meads with such force he came off his bike. http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Pavem...#axzz2TBMFGBUv |

There should be a law against cycling on the pavement. |

If they could trace him. Clear case for registration. QUOTE: Redcliffe beat manager PC Nick King said: "This four-year-old girl suffered a nasty cut to her eye (caused) by a cyclist who was illegally using the pavement. "The cyclist was on his way to work and like many other cyclists was riding on the pavement. Unfortunately this area has no provisions for cyclists apart from dismounting and crossing the one-way system." [Bless - there was no simply question of the cyclist riding lawfully on the carriageway and complying with one-way working like other traffic, one assumes? With enforcement officers like that, these criminal cyclists need no defenders.] "The cyclist was shaken and very remorseful for what happened and the investigation is still ongoing. Lots of cyclists have already been issued £30 on-the-spot fines for cycling on the pavement in this area." Two points: 1. £30 is clearly *nowhere* *near* enough; £200 + automatic crushing of the bike is the minimum that might get them to take notice (and even that may not be enough). 2. Equally, nowhere near enough of these fixed penalties are being issued, despite the derisory amount of the penalty itself (see above). |
