Cycling getting more dangerous year on year.
The rate at which cyclists were killed or seriously injured rose sharply last
year, official figures showed yesterday The rate at which cyclists were killed or seriously injured rose sharply last year, official figures showed yesterday. Measured as a proportion of distance pedalled the rate rose by 9 per cent in 2011 compared with 2010 and was the third consecutive year in which it increased. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public...cle3551765.ece (Of course if you are the ****wit PhilO the fact that the number of deaths has gone down means that cycling has actually got safer.) |

The number of pedestrian deaths rose by 5 percent. Perhaps they should pay "road tax" and wear helmets to protect them from motorists ? |

Cyclists should pilot this scheme to test it's merits -- ennemm |

Perhaps they should pay "road tax" and wear helmets to protect them from motorists ? like cyclists many of their deaths are caused by their own stupidity, such as 48 percent 'failed to look properly' , even very good drivers/riders have their work cut out to avoid people that just step out without looking properly, and most drivers are not 'very good' |

Judith, do you not think people will think you are horrible and pay you less heed? Anyway, do you think the reduction in the number of deaths is good? Basic stuff to reduce the number of deaths, then focus on the serious accidents, then the minor accidents. A drop in the rate of cyclist deaths is excellent. Are you still more likely to die walking a mile than cycling a mile? |
