RIP the 81 year old mown down on a crossing by a cyclist
"An elderly man who was knocked down by a cyclist has died.
The 81-year-old pedestrian suffered serious head injuries after colliding with the 22-year-old cyclist. It happened on the pelican pedestrian crossing on the A56 Manchester Road, Broadheath, Altrincham, next to the junction of Devonshire Street." There needs to be a 'causing death by reckless cycling' law. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....-being-1946103 |

There needs to be a 'causing death by reckless cycling' law. Why? Death by recklessness would cover it. If I do something really stupid which causes you to die, but it doesn't involve a bicycle or a car, I'd still get prosecuted. Why have seperate laws for everything? http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....-being-1946103 It takes two to cause an accident. -- He was deeply in love. Maybe he was swerving to avoid a pedestrian. Pedestrians are a nuisance, they never look. Having said that I'd never swerve round a pedestrian. If someone walks in front of my car, it's up to the brakes to stop me in time, if they don't, tough. If I do something really stupid which causes you to die, but it doesn't involve a bicycle or a car, I'd still get prosecuted. Not necessarily. You may be thinking of manslaughter, but that does not apply in every case of simple negligence or misadventure. Why have seperate laws for everything? In order to make it easier to prosecute, of course. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....-being-1946103 It takes two to cause an accident. It doesn't. It might sometimes fall out that way, but not always. |

There needs to be a 'causing death by reckless cycling' law. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....-being-1946103 This might help http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2...rnment-support [quote] The plans have been criticised by cycling groups who argue such deaths are so rare that a new law is unnecessary, as well as a distraction from a far bigger threat to pedestrians posed by cars. In 2009, the last year for which road death statistics have been collated, no pedestrians were killed by cyclists whereas 426 died in collisions with motor vehicles. Have you ever encountered the phrase "self-serving"? In other news, the British Incorporated Society of Burglars, Muggers, Robbers and Bank-Heist Operatives (Amalgamated) is set to argue that there is no need for the Theft Act, since hardly anyone is ever harmed during their operations, and the few who are are asking for it anyway. |
