Is this the first time that a person has been indicted for merely
lying about doping under oath?

Marion Jones was convicted of perjury, but the charges included lying
about activities that were criminal, i.e. check fraud.

about activities that were criminal, i.e. check fraud.

Tammy Thomas, for one, was inidicted on four counts: three of lying to a
grand jury, one of obstructing justice (by lying to a grand jury).

Trevor Graham, the track coach, was indicted on three counts of lying to a
grand jury.

And so on...
