Pavement cyclist to face charges.
A 17-year-old cyclist is facing a charge of riding on a pavement after
knocking down a pedestrian in Spalding earlier today. Police in Spalding are putting together a file for the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether the cyclist, who can’t be named for legal reasons, should face charges in connection with the accident in Abbey Passage at about 9.25am. MONDAY 11AM: A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with as yet unknown injuries after colliding with a cyclist in Spalding. It happened in Abbey Passage at 9.25am when the pedestrian was hit by a bicycle. http://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/news/...ding-1-6190171 |

Do you have a reading difficulty? The cyclist was on the pavement: therefore he was a "Pavement cyclist" The cyclist is facing charges. Therefore : a Pavement cyclist is to face charges. If you cannot follow that - you could ask your teacher to explain. |

No charges have been laid yet - hence the cyclist does NOT "face charges". Is the plural a problem? Using the plural form ("charges") is pretty common English usage, even when there is only one charge. And describing the cyclist's position as "facing" charges is also pretty standard stuff. |
