In 2002, didn't he finish in the front group of 5 riders?
And he did attack at least once on the last lap...

You think Lance would bother flying out here just to be generous with a
teammate? Lance wants to fatten up his non-TdF palmares and he will

bring
his "A" game.

Lance will bring his "A" Game? Just like past years?

It's just an abbreviation. He means that Lance will bring his "A couple
of laps and then I'll get tired and quit" game. Excellent word economy,
really.

He hasn't made a sincere effort in past years to prepare for the race
as a potential winner so why would he do it different this year? In
past years he has essentially said he was there to help George, or
somebody else.

In last year's pre-race interview, he said he picked up a cold from
his kids. FYI/FWIW.
