Default Near Miss of the Day 474: "It's more fun to drive straight at a cyclist"

QUOTE:

"More than enough room for an bike and a car, but it's more fun to drive at the cyclist I guess!"

That was the reaction of road.cc reader Dave when he found himself on the receiving end of this piece of awful driving in North Somerset between Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare on Thursday.

"Every ride always has an example of idiots, hard to choose the bad ones," he added.

The cyclist should have given way to the vehicle already passing the obstruction.
Alternatively if motorists did not store their personal possessions on public roads this would not be a problem.

When the road is obviously wide enough, it is difficult to anticipate
that when moronists are told to give cyclists room on their left, they
take it literally.

Alternatively if motorists did not store their personal
possessions on public roads this would not be a problem.

At least, make it illegal to abandon a vehicle that's more than 5'6"
wide. Councils to have machines that can reduce vehicles greater than
that down to the right size.

The majority of motorists are wider than they are tall. This is why modern cars are heavier than previous models because the suspension has to cope with obesity.
