If you could only have one bike...
Gee that is a hard one, I rarely tour and most often am out for 50+ miles with
an interest in speed At the moment, that eliminates the trikes in the stable, leaving me with the choice of my trusty and beautiful Stratus, capable of being used as a touring rig and pack mule, or the one bike that does speed real well, the Corsa. that bike is fast, and none of the people I ride with routinely can hope to stay with me at the speed the Corsa is happiest with. So, while it is the best choice for a fast ride, i can finish before the rest get going so there goes cycling's social side. So as much as I love the Corsa, I would have to stay with the Stratus, because most folks I ride with can keep up with me. However the Catrike Road is no slouch, but presently it's comfortable cruising speed is high teens, only 2-3 mph less than the Stratus, and come December, it will have the flip up fairing from Mark Mueller aka Windwrap, as well as a speed drive. So the question is, will I gain any speed with this, or just relief from the elements. If I do gain in speed, then my vote would probably swing to the trike, but too many roadies can dust me now on the trike, where the Stratus only a few even on the hill, and on the Corsa, only on a good hill. But, I really love my GTT, put a good stoker on that and we can fly, very comparable speeds to the Stratus. Add the social aspects and it is the bike I go for first, if I have a good stoker at the ready. BTW, I am thinking of opening a used recumbent shop...I have plenty :-) (just a joke, I love them all) MikeE |

If you could only have one bike...
If they'd only do a carbon Speedmachine that was five kilos lighter...

If you could only have one bike...
Trick question? Right?
One bike? What kind of fun is THAT? Speedy stratrider wrote: I now have a 99 Stratus and an 03 Strada. I can commute and tour on the Stratus. I can ride hard and fast on the Strada. By adding a Cannondale, I could add off road riding to the list. Yet if I could only have one recumbent, what bike would I own? I am not sure.... Any thoughts? Yeah I'd probably have to go with either a trike of some sort or maybe an
Easy Racers bike of one flavor or another. "BentJay" wrote in message om... I'm with Ian and MLB. My GS GTO is the way to go. BentJay |

Yet if I could
only have one recumbent, what bike would I own? I am not sure.... Any thoughts? Jim Reilly Reading, PA You folks can all figure out the best compromise, but if I could only have one bike, I'd like it to be a Rotator Coyote. I saw Dean Pederson's again last weekend at Encino. There is nothing I can think of even close to it on the Gee Whiz scale. A street ridable bike, capable of 54 mph at Battle Mountain, with a kevlar skin just in case you fall, and terrific aesthetics. Okay, so it's a little slower in the hills; I'd be willing to live with that. Hey Speedy, how much would one set me back in 2003 dollars? I'm going now to buy some Super Lotto tickets...
