Default 29 inch road rims

I have trawled around the net, plus asked around some bike shops -
Clarence Street Cyclery, Bates Bikes, bike shop in Liverpool, etc, looking
for some secondhand 29-inch road rims and it seems that whilst they have
been made for mountain bikes since the early 2000's, they don't seem to be
quite so for road bikes.

Are 29-inch road rims common for road bikes? If not, what is the biggest
diameter rim available for a road bike?

Thanks.

29" mountain bike wheels are basically just 700C rims with fat tyres. ie the
overall diameter is increased due to the size of the tyre.
I don't believe there's such a thing as a 29" rim as such, and if there was
you'd never find tyres for it.

700C is the most common road wheel size at the moment so that's what I'd be
looking for as a 2nd hand set.

See Sheldon's Tyre sizing chart from more -
