Perhaps there is something about the bicycle that changes people? In some people it's a permanent effect, and in some only temporary.

It changes tubby people into thin people.

Why have you given it up?

I will be cycling to work again in the Spring.

What? All the way to Immingham?

Or didn't you get that one?

I want to go back to Saltend.

Will they not take you back?

It is at Vivergo, not BP, but at the same site.

Have they offered you a job yet?

If you ever get a job.

Was offered one today at Immingham to fly around like a blue arsed
fly 365/24/7 for £20000. I told them to shove it.

You are 58?
Take it.

£20000 isn't much, especially living in England where house prices are
stupidly high.

Ah... So you're a tenant.

You do not like BP any more?

I love BP as they gave me 27 years, free pension, free shares, free BUPA, £45000 salary, £10000 bonuses and much more, but apart from 5 people, the rest were unpleasant to work with.

It was only £20000, so I told them to take a hike as I can get more being a barista at Costa.

Crikey - I did not realise that you were as well off as that.

How many hours a week did you have to work for the £45,000 salary?

So they gave you a "free" pension did they? Most people have to contribute?

Remind us : how much was it?

Is that what you are going to do?

Why don't you only apply for jobs where you know the salary beforehand : it
would save a lot of effort on your part?

Or did they not know your worth until the interview?

After he learned that I didn't need the money, he tried to get me on the cheap.
