First Bug of the Season
Stephen Harding wrote:
Inhaled my first bug of the season on my commute home tonight. Thought I'd share. SMH I got a face full yesterday evening as I approached the Susquehannah River. First of the season and a complete surprise. The sun was high and to one side, yet I saw no bugs. Then, some in each eye and some up each nostral. Panic stop; snort-snort; fumble for the water bottle. That's the price of warm weather so I guess I'll handle it. Michael |

First Bug of the Season
I remember riding through Delano on a motorcyle and I caught a hard shelled
flying beetle the size of my thumb on my chin at 55 MPH. I almost came off the bike. I suppose the beetle was as impressed with the encounter as I was. Inhaled my first bug of the season on my commute home tonight. Thought I'd share. SMH I may have that beat. I was on the way home from a week in Silicon Valley with the window on my van open and a big June bug hit the outside mirror just as I was in mid yawn. The bug broke in 2 and the big piece went into my mouth, killing a nice near midnight yawn and tasted terrible. I always rolled up my window before yawning after that. It was a commute I had to do once a week in order to make the big bucks and the van was a camper that held my bike for weekday jaunts around the valley. Good thing the company had a shower and I got to park inside the shipping department. Around here I just inhale a bunch of fruit flies every day about 6 PM when the sun starts to go down and they come out by the millions. I sure wish I had dry sinuses and didn't have to open my mouth to exceed 13 MPH. Bill Baka |
