I like how the budget Rad bikes are single gear now. You set them up with a ratio to boogie at 20mph and use the torque of the motor to get started. Gears on utility ebikes are frivolous. But if you're gonna have electronics anyway. Eh.

Now if they make a nut toaster saddle accessory, I'm in. Especially if it's scented with cinnamon and butter.

If aircraft can fly by wire, so can bicycles. While the current
technology has the various shifting, braking, steering, and force
functions under the control of the rider, future systems will likely
be controlled by a computer, where the rider is mostly a passenger, as
in a driverless car. Just press the "Go" button and the bicycle goes
forward. Since control is wireless, it's conceivable that control of
the bicycle in a road or track race will be under control of a remote
operator so that the rider can concentrate on pedaling. His riding
position would likely be more aerodynamic because he doesn't need to
look where he's going. Of course, the bicycle system will include all
the necessary sensors and telemetry to maximize performance and insure
safety.

No reason not to, after all the Japanese pioneered a heated toilet
seat... a real blessing in cold climates :-)

But why bother with the human. Singapore experimented with totally
automatic buses. I don't know how the tests worked out but the aim was
to produce an operatorless vehicle that knew it's route and could
identify passengers waiting at bus stops.
