Default those wonderful cyclists

I thought cyclists were immune from being stopped for anything because they
are so safe?

"Between January and November 2010, the Metropolitan Police Service and
City of London Police together issued over 10,500 FPNs to cyclists"

I wonder how many actually got paid?

"139 such collisions (cyclists v. pedestrian) causing injury to a
pedestrian, including 1 fatality" (and these are only the ones that get
reported)

Now I understood that cycles were so light and slow moving that they could
never cause any injury.

Well you thought wrong. Can you provide a url to anywhere anyone has
said cyclists are immune from being stopped?

No wonder you are so confused.

I'd be fascinated to hear how many unreported fatalities you think may be
slipping through the net.

Not too many fatalities, but I would bet that a very large number of
cyclist/pedestrian collisions are not reported.

Is he confused.

Perhaps he was indulging in a teeny bit of hyperbole With his "they could
never cause *any* injury?" [my emphasis], but there are those here who state
- and frequently repeat - that bicycles are unlikely to cause injury. And
that just isn't true, is it?

I am trying to remember when I last collided with a pedestrian. I think
it was about 25 years ago when a lady suddenly stepped out on a
pedestrian crossing in front of me. Emergency brakes - I hit the lady
with so little force that she didn't even move! Pleasantries exchanged
and we went our separate ways.
