Do Pro Cyclists Change Gear ratio's
Do the Pro's change gearing on their bikes for different stages.
Like for a mountain stage do they change the gearing as to a fast flat stage ? |

It looks like a 26!" Tyler Hamilton and the CSC lads use/d compact (50/34) chainsets in th 03 tour in the hilly stage -- flyingdutch |

Paris Roubaix goes the other way with close ratio front rings (53-44 for example) with 11-21 on the back A couple of years ago when the Vuelta went up some severe hills (Angliru) the pros were running triple chainsets 53-39-30 and 12-25 cassettes. That extreme is fairly unusual though peter |

No. The team mechanics do :-) Like for a mountain stage do they change the gearing as to a fast flat stage Depends on how steep the berg is. Most of them only bother for the extreme hills such as San Fransisco or Baw Baw or that nasty little hill near Lara, Mt Wallace. Let's face it, the 10 speed 11-23 cassette gives a pretty wide range. -- Regards. Richard. |

I think? i was Millar who got off his bike at the top of it and quit the race as protest over it being included. Some team cars cant get up there a times and im pretty sure guys got off and walked up -- oely |
