New Bike
Hi all,
Been reading here for a while, first post... I'm in the market for a first roadie (jumping off the MTB)... keen to limit the budget to $2500 (give or take a hundred bucks)... So far I'm looking at ... Trek 1500 ($2500 - Full Ultegra, alloy frame, Bontrager entry level rims etc) Giant TCR A1 ($2795 - Full Ultegra, carbon/alloy frame, Mavic Aksium rims etc) or anything else? I've been told the TCR might be bit of a pain to ride frame-wise for what I'll use it for i.e.. training, road rides, the odd commute, no racing, Any suggestions? Thanks, Adam PS Apologies for the '10000th new bike? post. |

They are (or were) more entry level with a more stable frame for the "non-racing" types. -- Bean "I've got a bike You can ride it if you like It's got a basket A bell that rings And things to make it look good I'd give it to you if I could But I borrowed it" Pink Floyd Remove "yourfinger" before replying |

As always, I'd suggest go and testride as many as you can. Visit a few LBS's, see what they have, see how well you think they'll look after you for service and advice and setup etc as well as the bike itself. Everyone here has their own biases, go testriding. If you can't get a testride of a particular bike (and a testride isn't 5 minutes on a spin trainer, it's actually going out on the road and riding the thing for a good 15 mins or more) then don't buy that bike, or at least, don't go back to that LBS. You wouldn't buy a car or a motorcycle without a decent testride ... |

I'd worry more about how well the bike fits you.
