Default Irish Lightness

Thats when Germans (and others) laugh about the Irish:

These cycling newsgroups seem to replete with heavy types ... you know,
like Germans and Scandinavians who have ever proven themselves to be dour
and dead serious. They know not the delights of Irish lightness.

We of Irish ancestry are given to spoofing and kidding in the extreme.
Frankly we do not understand seriousness at all. JimmyMac is only half
Irish and so not up to my high standard. Tom Sherman is a dour Danish
gentleman and his attempt at humor sadly falls flat over and over. Jeff
Grippe is Jewish and they are the most confoundedly serious race of all.
Hey, you either got the genes for lightness or you don't!

I am here as a gadfly. It will ever be my delight to tweak you and to
annoy you to the best of my ability. It is what life is all about if you
ask me. If you come unto these newsgroups pontificating and pretending to
be serious, I will be here for you like an elf and a leprechaun. If you
want to be serious, get thee to a graveyard. I am here for life and will
have none of your sepulcher.
