Default Spray Lithium Grease

We haven't had a chain-lube thread on this NG for, what, a few weeks?
I took somebody's advice from the last one, and got some chain lube spray
from a motorcycle shop. Great stuff, but it has to be reapplied every
couple of weeks. The silicone spray I was using before would go about
twice that long.
And now I drop by the local auto parts place for silicone, and see that
they've got White Lithium Grease in an aerosol can. Anybody ever tried
that on a chain?

Silicone sounds good in theory but has it's own drawbacks.

What are the drawbacks of silicone?
