Default Pavement driver is banged up for six years

A lengthy sentence for a change.
QUOTE:

A mother has been jailed for deliberately driving in to a couple walking along the pavement because she thought they had stolen her child's bicycle.

Later that day, Myles was driving through the city when she saw Miss Stokes, 26, and Mr Huxtable, 29, walking on the pavement.

She mounted the pavement in her silver Peugot 406 and accelerated into the pair, sending them flying into the air before driving off.

"All four wheels of your vehicle mounted the pavement and your intention was to mow down your victims.

Good.

But really, Parliament is missing a trick here. They should legislate
for attempted murder to be a criminal offence irrespective of the weapon
employed.

What a great shame that you and Justice Lee are retired from the legal
system.

Why do you have a problem with that?

No sensible, sober, person would.

I don't understand why it isn't already attempted murder. It's bloody obvious, she was trying to kill them.

It is not off topic. It shows that the mother had strange feelings for the bicycle.

Much more common are the motorists who strike cyclists with the opposite motivation:

The mom trips over her kid's bike blocking the door way and decides to take out her anger at bikes by side swiping the first cyclist she sees on the streets.

Later she calls it an "accident" and most including the cyclist believe her but who can really know anyone's intent for sure?
