Default Trans Pennine Trail - Chesterfiled to Wakefield

Does anyone have any experience of this route ? What are the surfaces like ?
what are the neighbourhoods like that it passes through ?

Without looking it up, I imagine some of the bits south of Wakefield are
ganna be a little old mining areas / grotty.
Overheard some geezers in a cafe (Worthy, South Yorkshire) grumbling
about the West Yorkshire section (narrow / badly made).
I'll have a look tonight and write again.
