Default Northern Spain (Santander) trip advice needed

Planning to fly into Santander with bike in May for a few days coast
and mountains mini-tour. Looking for advice on best routes for leaving
airport heading west or south-west avoiding busy roads, and general
advice on cycling in that area. Thanks in advance. Andy

Thanks Dan. I can't tell from the map I've got (scale 1:200000)exactly
what the roads are like around Santander airport. I've had a few
'interesting' experiences before trying to cycle into and out of
airports, even small ones.

I was last in this area in 1982 (without bike)and can't remember what
Santander's like for roads/traffic - changed for the worse I assume,
like everywhere else. I took some train trips then and may well try
the FEVE again, in combination with cycling.

Do you happen to know where/if I can get hold of better maps of the
area, than my Spanish IGN 1:200000? 1:100000 or 1:50000 would be
ideal. Stanfords don't seem to stock them.

is the airport .. you can get under the autovia on a bike.
I have been by ferry of late and always take FEVE out of the city
(timetable here http://www.feve.es/) but I couldn't connect to see
whether there is a stop at the airport.
I use Firestone maps myself but they are not large scale either. I
always get maps from the Map Shop at Upton on Severn they would know if
there any available.
