Default Tooled up, thieving cyclist sentenced to 20 months

At least he had Hi-vis clothing.

e was apprehended and as well as the 50 pence pieces he was carrying a
screwdriver and a small curved tool.

He had been planning to escape the scene on his bike, and was found with
high visibility clothing and a bike clip.

But Miss Charley Pattison, who was Weeks' defence said he had not
brought the screwdriver with the intention of using it to burgle a property.

She said: "He a cyclist and the small screwdriver was simply a tool he
often has on him, as a cyclist." Yes, of course, nothing to do with
breaking into property or fruit machines.

"And when you consider the items he wanted to move, I think you can see
the bike is not an appropriate getaway vehicle." or Non Viable
Transport, perhaps we can move to NVT from now on.

:-)

She was just going her job.

What was it, a gas-meter breaking?

If so, that really is the slimiest, lowest of the low - cash meters for
domestic fuel are the preserve of the poorest, after all.

When I was a kid, everyone we knew had pre-payment meters for gas. The
search for the required shilling pieces in change was a constant refrain
in working-class life, so much so that the thought of spending a
one-shilling instead of taking it home to add to the stock reserved for
the meter was unthinkable.

Thank you for reminding me of that. I had almost forgotten it.

That so few have those nowadays is a mark of the great economic progress
we have seen in the UK, particularly throughout the fifties, the first
half of the sixties and the eighties through into the nineties.

And thank you for reminding everyone of that.

Mind you, I have an idea that cash is no longer used much (if at all),
and that meters are nowadays fed electronically, with credit bought in
advance, which makes sense.

You're very welcome.

It does take a kind of twisted psyche to claim 'trickle down', whilst your
fascist mates over on uk.politics.misc spend all their time frantically
(and, it has to be said, hilariously) denying that the rightards ever claim
'trickle down'.

But then... 'not all conservatives are stupid, but all stupid people are
conservatives', as someone famously said.

You are quite clearly ill.

As a consequence, there is no need for anyone as depraved as yourself to
wish it upon you.

Not that many people are as irredeemable as you.

Stop bleating, for heaven's sake. You lost. Accept it like a man.
