Could I ask if your wife chooses to wear head protection when she
uses
her electric bike? I don't see many riders on electric bikes around
here and wonder whether riders would be more likely to wear
helmets on
electric bikes than they would on normal bikes.

She doesn't.

Okay, the more people that don't, the more confident I would feel
about not doing so either.

Why do you think the type of bike would make a difference?

Just the potential speed that you could more consistently maintain on
some electric bikes, I suppose - Bod has mentioned 30 mph. Although,
of course, just because you can that doesn't mean you have to do so.

If you're using your bike, even though power assisted, at speeds you
are commonly quite used to without such assistance then I don't see
that it would make a difference. And, now I come to think of it, that
is the way I would approach things.

I normally pootle along at a steady 15 -20mph, any speed above that
just
feels too fast down country lanes. We get deer running across the roads
quite a lot so it would be insane to go any faster

Okay, thanks for that. I think I'm getting this electric bicycle thing
together now - there is, of course, far more to life than just
increasing its speed.

Indeed and in the summer I go even slower to take in the scenery and
animals etc, especially at dawn when lots of deer and wabbits etc are
frolicking about and very little traffic.

Which is why I prefer walking if I'm enjoying the countryside.* Cycling
is not fast enough for getting from A to B, but it's too fast to enjoy
what you're passing.

Bull****.

I LOVE looking like an idiot in your eyes.

After all I ride a bicycle, a very convenient delightful economical
viable means of transport, and we all know that YOU think bicyclists are
the ****witted pits of humanity.
I really feel complimented by that, because YOU said it.

Thanks greatly for that excellent compliment coming from YOU.
Especially as it has come from YOU.
Now please crap in my direction the further honour of festering pustule

It really is a very great compliment to be called a **** by YOU.
Especially by YOU.
And I have no ****ing interest in looking good in YOUR eyes.
After all I ride a bicycle.
And we all know what YOU think of bicyclists. You think they are the

And because it is YOU who think that, that is an extremely great
compliment.
We must be doing something right.

They're just so hard to find in a size UK12. Correction - loads on
eBay. but I already have a bad back and knees, and no desire to be
taller.

You can get size 12 heels?! Are those intended for men or women?!

Look it up, idiot!

I suppose that is the best we can expect from the courts in this day and age.
To convict him of dangerous driving would require his driving to fall below that expected of a normal driver and his behaviour is normal for motorists.
Quite how threatening to run someone over with 2 tonnes of metal became acceptable behaviour is beyond me.
If you put a gun to someones head and threatened to shoot them because they were in your way you would be in prison for life.

Explain why the cyclist pulled in front of him without using his mirrors.

The cyclist did not have mirrors.

Is that because he doesn't show a reflection?

Electric bicycles come into their own when pulling away from traffic
lights etc much quicker, ie; not holding other vehicles up, plus you
can
maintain your speed up steep hills without breaking into a sweat
etc. Once you start using an electric bike you'd never go back to a
standard bike. I still pedal most of the time, but usually on the
lightest electrical assistance, so I still get plenty of exercise

It's one of the best buys I've ever made.

Offtopic! Clear off to an electric bike group /foaming troll

I think it's too tempting to get seduced by a simple pull of a
throttle, rather than pushing yourself up that last few yards - and
before long you'll be saying to yourself "what's the point in lugging
a heavy battery around if you're not going to use it?". It then
becomes just a mobility scooter.

Repent now!

But I do USE it (as I just explained). As for being "mobility
scooter"? how many mobility scooters can do 30mph plus.

You're doomed!

Should I commit suicide now? If so, suggest a quick method.

Ride a typical push-bike down (no lights) the hard shoulder of the M6 in
Cheshire at about 01:00 on a Friday night (Sat morning) and then veer
across to the middle lane, holding position in the centre of that lane
for at least a minute (or attempting to).

Guaranteed.

Undertake a tipper or skip truck in central London morning peak
traffic.

I actually saw a cyclist undertake a bus at traffic light this morning
Just because the bus was not indicating to turn left does not mean it
is not
going to turn left. Unfortunately the bus did not turn left.

If something isn't indicating let, it has no right to turn left.
Anyone who can't use an indicator should have their license removed
instantly.

You DO realise that in respect of motor vehicles there is no legal
requirement for indicators to be used, or even fitted, don't you?

Agreed (for a change)
