Yellow Audi driver slaps cyclist after overtaking in Oxford

A CYCLIST was slapped in the face by an Audi driver who tried who overtake him.

At around 5.40pm on May 18, a 26-year-old man was cycling in Abingdon along Faringdon Road - between Barrow Road and Gozzards Ford - with his partner.

A yellow coloured Audi S4 overtook them, while another driver was going in the opposite direction.

This meant that the yellow Audi had to cut back in, nearly hitting the cyclist's partner.

The driver of the Audi then stopped, got out of his car and started shouting at the couple.

He did get back into his car and drive off for a short distance but got out again. This is when he slapped the cyclist around the face - leaving him with red marks.

The attacker is described as a white man, in his thirties, of a large build and around 6ft 2ins.

He had blonde (SIC) hair that was shaved on the sides and had tattoos on his chest and both arms.

At the time he was wearing beige shorts.

Now police are hoping anybody who saw something will come forward.

Investigating officer, PC Henry North, of Abingdon police station, said: “This incident of assault took place in daylight hours and at a time I believe there could be witnesses.

“I would ask that if anyone was in the area at the time and believes they saw this incident happening, or recognises the description of the offender, to please get in touch with police.

“Alternatively, if you think you saw the vehicle in the area, a yellow coloured Audi S4, then please also get in touch.

“I would also like to appeal to any other motorists who were in the area that might have access to a dash cam. Please review it and check if anything significant was caught on the camera.
