Vaughters, Andreu, The Media and Libel

I found it interesting that only cyclingnews covered the L'Equipe story
of the leaked
IM conversation between Vaughters and ANdreu from the SCA suit.

For whatever reason other outlets decided not to cover the story in any
way.

Since the 'story' consisted of speculation between two individuals with
no concrete
direct knowledge, did they deem it no more worthy than various
ramblings on r.b.r.?

Or, due to the 'gossipy' nature, is there exposure to a libel suit?

Maybe there is a former cyclingnews editor that reads the group and
could chime in....

It's been covered by other outlets before, but probably not in the same
detail.

the article appeared in the new york times first, it was picked up by
espn as well. i even recall andreu did a race here the weekend before
it came out.

Anyone else notice that cyclingnews first published it, then took it
off the site within an hour, and eventually put it back up with a
little extra info and a comment/reaction from Vaughters if my memorie
serves me right...

oops, i was ****ed up. i confused the initial andreu confession story
with the subsequent story about the IMs.

The first was widely covered, but the second with the IM quotes ("800
milliliters of blood...", "coolers on motorcyles...", "Floyd told
me..", "Here's how Lance does it...")
I've only seen mention on cyclingnews.
