Benjo Maso In an interview to l'Équipe about a week ago, Bernaudeau (who was a teammate of Hinault in the old Renault team) admitted that he used to do amphematines for the criteriums. since J-R B was pretty much Hinault's understudy at the time, I assumed that BH was doing the same. jyh. -- ================================================== =================== jean-yves herve' /\ Department of Computer Science \/ e-mail -- and Statistics /\ University of Rhode Island \/ Tel. -- (401) 874-4400 Kingston, RI 02881-0816 /\ Fax. -- (401) 874-4617 USA \/ ================================================== =================== |

Riders were taking often amphetamines for criteriums, not to win (the races were fixed anyway), but to stay awake. The starting money of the criteriums was their major source of income and to participate to a maximum of races, for three or four weeks they usually raced by day and travelled by night. Benjo Maso |

"Gingerale392" wrote in message ... LeMond is a multimillionaire. What the hell does he care about being a hero? BRBR Try to stay focused: He was known as "America's greatest rider" and his comeback elevated his status further. Lance replaced Lemond. Lemond was rich and a hero. Now Lemond is rich and a forgotten hero. Ego plays a large part in human behavior (this is a new theory anyway). Now do you get it? He may be right, me may be wrong and think he's right, he may love Lance, we don't know. The fact is, there is certainly an understandable motivation to resent Armstrong. The class has to move on. Is Magic Johnson threatened by Michael Jordan? Lemond was the first. His position is secure. He could have kept his mouth shut and rode a wave of positive press instead of what he is reaping now. Right or wrong, Lemond is sincere and a champion. |

Hey, if you think that Greg isn't a hero anymore that's your problem and not mine. BRBR oh boy, you do need someone to hold your hand. ". . .Lemond is a forgotten hero." What kind of hero is he? "Forgotten." Very good. So, he's a hero. Do you understand now? I know these things can be hard, don't worry, I'll help you learn. |

What about a Flemish website in a few years time? |
