"Vaughters thinks Wiggins has further potential, even if it may not be
realised in 2010. "The 2009 Tour route was suited to Brad, but 2010 is less
so," he said. "In 2009, the tactics worked in his favour and Astana were
soft-pedalling a bit to not embarrass Lance [Armstrong]. "

One of the things that tells you is that Vaughters isn't
losing sleep over being on LANCE's **** list.

Absolutely.

OTOH, I can't imagine that Garmin will spend enough time contending for
anything that this statement will come back to haunt Vaughters.

He has no more reason to worry about being on Lance's **** list than I do.

Dumbass -

As a team, Garmin is pretty stupid with their smacktalking. It's unwise to
make too many enemies in the peloton - they can make you lose.

Last year, they had that feud with Columbia and prevented Hincapie from
taking the yellow jersey. OK, perhaps that's understandable since Cavendish
was running his mouth at the Giro. But now Garmin has David Millar talking
smack about Wiggins and Vaughters taking shots at Armstrong. For what end?

Very shortsighted and impulsive. Especially since Garmin the Corporation is
going to see a big part of their core business drying up with GPS enabled
cellphones doing the work of a Garmin GPS unit for pennies on the dollar.
Vaughters is gonna be looking for a sponsor. Making enemies in one's
profession (along with the potential decrease in results from others not
cooperating/working against you in the peloton) is generally bad karma.

thanks,

Kurgan. presented by Gringioni.

who was it who said "those who are unable to control their emotions

I don't think it was me
and I know I don't have it more than 1/2 right.

It's very much the same as people gobbing off in rbr - except they get
to show us that they are not all mouth and no trousers.

I believe the quote you're going for is "those who beat their swords
into plowshares will plow for those who don't."

So Vaughters is intentionally trying to stir Lance up? What is the point
of doing that? He was concerned that, if he passed up such an
opportunity, he'd have nothing to regret for the rest of his life?

The psyche games are strange indeed. There are a number of guys who can
out-ride Lance, and that's the field they should play. But trying to
out-psyche him... that's just nuts.
