dumbass,

pippo seems to win by not wanting to, either that or he is a cool cat,
though i considered him too soft to win RVV or PR. i'll have to watch
more of the E3 finale before i have a clear opinion about him.

Boonen sprinted on 11 instead of 13. That and the lead-out set up the
defeat.
Probably he was too self-confident after awing the field on all final
bergs. Pozzato was close to his level there too but climbed them more
economicly.

Dumbass -

I'm wondering if Boonen may not have the wattage of some of his
previous years. Look at the poor finish in M-SR.

thanks,

K. Gringioni.

dumbass,

he definitely doesn't have the power he did at the time of his first
ronde win. he isnt able to create selections by riding at the front.
he has been depending more on his sprint from 4-6 men groups rather
than going solo or driving a two man break (like he did when he won E3
with klier along for the ride).

also bart is right, he likes to start the bergs at the front and then
slip back.
but, that isn't what confident riders do, they sit 2nd or 3rd wheel
and attack over the top - which is how ballan attacked boonen to win
RVV. i will know more once i see the E3 footage.

We used to call that "the fade". It works to save energy, but you're
right, he never would've done that a few years ago.
