Roads with most cyclists are 13% safer for riders, new survey says
A pioneering study into the risks of cycling in London reveals that
“safety in numbers” protects riders from injury. Roads with more cyclists are 13 per cent safer — probably because drivers are more aware, or because cyclists shield each other by riding in a “protective ring”. Dr Rachel Aldred, a transport expert at the University of Westminster, who led the research, said: “A street with 1,000 cyclists per day is 13 per cent safer than one with 500 cyclists per day.” https://www.standard.co.uk/news/tran...-a3826931.html -- Bod |
