Default Cyclist sustains serious head injury in 'hit-and-run' crash

QUOTE:

A cyclist has suffered serious head injuries following a 'hit-and-run' in Basildon.

The crash, between a car and a bike, happened in Broadmayne last night (Saturday, May 2).

Officers were first called to the scene at around 10.30pm to reports of a cyclist found injured in the road.

The cyclist sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains.

It is believed to have happened between the Timberlog Lane roundabout and Church Road.

The car involved had left the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a large emergency service presence on the road late last night.

Essex Police have since arrested a man in relation to the crash.

The 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He remains in police custody.

Anyone with an information, dash cam or CCTV footage of this crash is urged to contact Essex Police.

You can call 101 quoting incident 1115 of 2 May, or give information anonymously at Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.

Oh the hipocracy. Police are keen for people to send in video footage when it suits them, yet if you stood outside an Essex Police station with a camera they would mob you and use the "In this day and age" line to arrest you for terrorism.
