Yes, probably. Running race organisers are finding it harder and harder
to get roads closed.

I think it would be a mistake to see this as an anti-cyclist attitude:
it's more an
anti-anything-that-inconveniences-me-even-for-an-hour-on-one-day-of-the-year
attitude.


How many times do you see such vigilantism for any other road closing?
I suspect that it was only because it was a *cycling* event that the
moron thought it was acceptable to take his action.

Or the moron thought the action would be an effective attack because we
ride on tyres. It might not be because this was a cycling event other
than it give opportunity.

James - I was replying to David's comment about objectors, not idiots
with tacks.

Having said that, Chris is right: strew tacks in front of runners and a
few might get them stuck in their shoes, which would be irritating but
probably wouldn't get through to any feet and wouldn't bring the race to
a sudden halt.
