I can see all the others, but dumping Il Falco? Didn't he win some big Italian race in '05? Guess if you come in fifth in the same race the next year, you're yesterday's news. Hmm. Astana offered a better contract, apparently. |

His transfer to Davitamon-Lotto was announced long ago. Seems like he received an attractive offer, which Discovery chose not to match. |

Were they pushed or did they jump? With the exception of Ekimov, it mostly looks like the latter to me. Though that makes a lot of sense, when you look closely, Triki and Ace are great riders, but just not in the leading group enough. But I think you're right with regard to Savoldelli. The others were either just too unlucky (Hammond) or getting too old. Might be that when the axe started to fall, some of them just quit or decided to look for a new team. Surprised that Danielson wasn't among them. Merkin team. Merkins won't support damn' pinko furriners, so if Disco is going to raise money from its Merkin sponsors it has to put up Merkin riders. trollThe fact that the Merkin riders can't ride for toffee without lashings of electric soup is just one of those things.../troll -- (Simon Brooke) http://www.jasmine.org.uk/~simon/ ;; When your hammer is C++, everything begins to look like a thumb. |

Actually I think we've mostly explained it. Many riders got better offers and Danielson probably had some offers withdrawn after he had a slightly less than stellar season. Poor kid, wouldn't be surprised if Johann low balled him. Heh, he seems so eager to ride, I bet he'd pay them for the chance. (who wouldn't?) It was pretty funny watching him celebrate the Stage 17 win in the Vuelta, though Vino was probably being nice. Just got to see it yesterday...(a.b.m.s) |

Dumbass - Rats leaving a sinking ship? Dude, you've got your head up your ass. Riders go where they get the highest wage. Discovery has $$$$$. Maybe Salvodelli is gone because he gets more money elsewhere, but the other guys underperformed. thanks, K. Gringioni. |
