Default Safety in Numbers.

Yesterday evening I was cycling along the road to the Rotterdam ferry when
all of a sudden a whole peleton of Dutch roadies came the other way. One or
two waved, but I was taken aback at how our busy HGV laden docks road had
been transformed into a cycling paradise. Brand new wide black top surface
and the HGVs were on the back foot as it were as dozens of roadies barrelled
down the road using the big roundabouts properly as the lorries had to wait
for them. Normally one is viewed as a pest on this road, but for once the
motor traffic was in the minority.

Exactly how I felt in Belgium on the RVV. The motorists were swamped.

Yes, my Hull accent didn't sound so bad this time! I think being in a proper
studio makes a difference :-)

It's Radio 4's pick of the day:

Oh yes, I didn't realise that. Well, I would have put "OT" there ;-)

Here's my day at the studio:

You ought to hear a Hull person trying to use a "posh" version of it. Ugh!

It was pure coincidence honestly. I was not even thinking about the radio
show when I saw all those Dutch roadies outnumbering the motorised traffic.

Was that /our/ Simon? I didn't catch the beginning of it so I didn't
realise. Fascinating stuff, though.

Yes and the Akin guy on the show was the bloke who made loads of money out
of my recordings by suing the rock group Wilco for the use of "his" sound
clip.
