Default web access to usenet?

I have now been kicked out of GG at work (net nanny) and for some
reason cannot post on cycling forums (and don't even think about a news
account on Outlook) so apart from the very out of date ureader does
anyone have any ideas?

My workplace has blocked all access to newsgroups and most forums - however
I have found I can still access my newsgroups via
http://www.spraci.com/net/news/showg...ername=&ucode=

I keep quiet about it though!

However, before you try that, verify that doing so will not violate
your employer's rules regarding computer use. Reading news at work is
(probably) not worth losing your job.

And doesn't usenet run on port 119, which is likely to be blocked?

I don't know how many free servers do it, but being able to use 22, 23, 53,
80, 110 and 443 is very handy!

What's your line of work? If it's something IT related then you've got
a valild reason to access Google Groups as a large portion of IT guys
find fixes for problems by searching GG. I'm sure other industries
could use a similar claim to justify unblocking it.

Any "workaround" could be in violation of an "acceptable use policy"
and isn't worth risking.

Graeme
